Quincy
Definition
An aristocratic surname, Quincy comes from the French place name of Cuinchy (north of Arras). This, in its turn, comes from a Roman personal name Quintus, so the name has the same root as Quentin. Quincy (sometimes Quincey) is used more frequently in the United States than elsewhere, where it came into use in honour of John Quincy Adams (1767–1848), the 6th president of that country.
